General Information
The Wayne Public Library serves the residents of Wayne, Michigan and it's surrounding communities. We are a member of The Library Network, a public library cooperative serving 65 libraries in southeast Michigan.
Library Mission Statement
The Wayne Public Library will respond to the dynamics of our changing community by providing access to reliable sources of information, with prompt and friendly service in a welcoming environment. The Library will promote an appreciation of learning, an interest in books and a love of reading.
Library Cards
Library cards can be issued to Wayne residents only. Please see the Circulation Desk to apply for your card. Anyone under the age of 18 will also need a parent or guardian with them to sign the application. Legal proof of Wayne residency (valid drivers licence or state ID) is required. If you lose your library card, please report it immediately. There is a small charge for replacement cards.
Check-Out Periods & Fines
Check-out periods and fines will vary, depending on what type of material is borrowed. Click here for more information. Keep in mind that you are responsible for any items checked out with your library card.
Renewals
Most items that you check out can be renewed, by either accessing your online account
or by calling the library at (734)721-7832. Please have your library card handy when renewing by phone.
DVDs and videocassettes cannot be renewed, nor can any item requested by someone else. Please remember
to renew your items before their due dates.
Now Available - Automated Phone Renewal! You can now renew materials and check your library
record by calling (888) 672-8983. This service is available 24 hours a day / 7
days a week and is TOLL FREE. You will need your library card, Personal Identification Number (PIN), and
a touchtone phone. Please note, an all-numeric PIN number is required to use
this service. Please see the Reference Desk if you need help in establishing or changing
your PIN.
Public Internet / Computer Access
The Wayne Public Library has 11 computer terminals (6 in the Adult Area and 5 in the Youth Area) from which the public can access the internet. All of these computers also offer Microsoft Office, including Word, Publisher and Excel. A library card is required to use these computers. The library is also a hot-spot offering wireless internet access. Access our guidelines and policies regarding internet use.
PLEASE NOTE: VISITOR PASSES WILL ONLY BE ISSUED TO PATRONS WHO RESIDE OUTSIDE OF METRO DETROIT AND SHOW VALID I.D. IF YOU ARE A RESIDENT OF A TLN OR METRONET NETWORK LIBRARY, YOU MUST GET YOUR LIBRARY CARD FROM YOUR HOME LIBRARY (NO EXCEPTIONS). YOU WILL NOT BE ISSUED A VISITORS PASS.Meeting Room
Why not schedule your next group meeting at our library? We have a large Community Meeting Room available, which can be divided into two smaller rooms.
