Friends of the Library

About the Friends

The Friends of the Wayne Public Library is a non-profit group involved in activities which directly benefit the library. Among its goals are:

  • To stimulate public support for the Library.

  • To encourage greater use of the Library.

  • To enjoy the fellowship of other Library Friends.

  • To encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests to the Library.

  • To support the Library in developing its services and facilities for the community.

Some members support the Friends simply by paying their annual dues, while others become more involved by donating their time. Every dollar raised by the Friends is funneled directly back to the Wayne Public Library. The Friends’ personal and financial support is critical to our library's efforts to provide the best possible service and materials to our community.

The Friends generally meet at the library on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. All Friends members are welcome to attend.

Support the Friends

Shop the Friends Used Book Sale
One of the Friends’ chief fundraisers is a year-round used book sale. Items for sale can be found in the periodicals room of the library. The Friends also host an annual “bag sale” where you can fill and purchase a bag of books for one low price.

Shop at Kroger
To have a portion of your Kroger purchases go to support the Friends, visit kroger.com/communityrewards, enroll your Kroger Plus card, and designate the “Friends of the Wayne Public Library” as your organization to support.  Then, simply show your Kroger Plus card when you make a purchase at Kroger and a portion of your purchase will automatically go to support the Friends.

Donate Used Books
The Friends welcome donations of gently used books, DVDs, and CDs. The Friends are unable to accept damaged books, musty/moldy/dirty books, textbooks, encyclopedias, newspapers, magazines, puzzles, VHS tapes, or cassette tapes.
